Cultivation of AppleBer

Climate: Apple ber is suitable for low rainfall areas cannot sustain severe winters or low temperatures requires less irrigation. We can grow this as the main crop with intercrops Saplings:  Saplings are generally purchased from a nursery. It should be less than 1 yr old sapling. cost us around Rs 50 / plant. Field preparation:  The plant responds well to organic manures. Adding 10 T FYM per acre is always good before planting. After addition of manure in the main field, pits are taken 60 x 60 x 60 cm’ Addition of 10 kg FYM with Neem cake powder 1 kg/pit is advised. Season: Planting season in India (June - August) Spacing:  Wider spacing is maintained in rainfed areas( suitable for intercrops) say 15 ft x 15 ft. if a good source of irrigation is there then closer spacing can be maintained..12 x 12 ft is recommended with 250 -300 pl/acre is ideal. Staking: After planting provide some support/staking to plant. Intercrops:...

Cultivation of Bitter Gourd

Climate :  Bitter Gourd love light warm moist (20C to 30C). Don't love cool or very low temperatures. But it can sustain low temperatures. Requires warm climate and humidity to grow rigorously. Soil:  Loves well-drained soils like sandy loam soils with a high percentage of organic matter. Give high yields in soils which have pH 6.0 to 7.1(slightly acidic to near neutral is best 7 pH).Can adopt in a wide range of soils. Seed:  Approx 1-2 kg per acre seed required.1200-1650 plants required per acre.Select virus free and disease free seeds from the farmer. Soak seeds overnight before planting because of seed shell hardness.Approx seed germination time is 7 days. Duration:  Below 100-150 days under full sunlight. From 60 days flowers will start approx from 70 days harvest will start. Spacing:  If your soil contains more percentage of sand dig 30-60cm pits(length * width * height) for every 6-7 feet(pit to pit). Mix soil with compost/fym...

Cultivation of Banana - Pests and Diseases

PART 1 of Banana Cultivation Session by Shri Suresh on 4th March 2018 Banana pests and diseases First, let us understand some things before jumping in to discuss pests and diseases of banana. Healthy soil leads to a healthy plant, thereby fewer chances of pest n disease attack on the healthy plant. But in natural farming, it takes some time of around 3 years for the soil to build fertility and thereby resistance. So initially we may face some issues in pests n diseases, but in long run, all will be set right. Addition of Neem cake, castor cake and trichoderma viridae or combination of Beejamrutam. 5kg cowdung, 5 L cow urine, water 20 L, lime 50g at the time of planting is very important. Though many pests n diseases attack banana, we will look in to some prominent ones today. More than insects, diseases are more in banana .. With simple explanation it is difficult to imagine diseases. So posting symptoms pictures for easy understanding... Sigatoka ...

Cultivation of rice in Natural farming method by Shri Surendranath Garu on 3rd Mar 2018 in CWF WhatsApp Group. Let us familiarize few points with reference to rice cultivation. Rice is a grass plant. It can survive in water. but it does not require a facility like drowning with water. It can be grown any where on earth where sunlight is available. The competition between main crop and weeds is for sunlight and the competition is not for nutrients from soil. We shall see Rice crop cultivation from indigenous seeds by way of Natural farming (ZBNF) Ploughing:  Plough required depending on soil nature. Can add 200kg Ghana jeevamrut (GJA) per acre while ploughing. In dry lands or poor soils. up to 400 Kg GJA can be added if available. GJA is a good source for creating humus. It will work slowly during a period of four months.Alternatives are Dry cow dung. to cultivate Dhaincha ( Jeeluga in Telugu) and ploughing at the age of 40 days or to cultivate pulses ( Like pill...
